Montessori Teachers

  • The Montessori teacher is a designer of the environment, resource person, role model, demonstrator, record-keeper and meticulous observer of each child’s behaviour and growth. The teacher facilitates learning.
  • Montessori teachers guide children through discovery and to learn independently. Children have the freedom to engage in their own learning experience and the teacher is there to support the child throughout this process.
  • Extensive training, which is specialized for the age group with which a teacher will work, i.e. infant and toddler, primary level, elementary level or erdkinder (adolescence program) is required to become a qualified Montessori teacher, including a minimum of college degree and teaching under supervision. The spiritual preparation required to work with children is of utmost importance.
